HOW TO CUT DOWN ON DRIVERS
WASTING TIME ...

If you have employees travelling around unsupervised, there may be a chance that they don’t use their time as effectively as they should do.  Whether you want to track when they start or finish their journey or find out if they are taking a very ‘scenic’ route to their destination - this wasted time costs you money. By managing your drivers more effectively, you can easily save yourself a lot of time and costs. So what can you do differently?

Check the routes they take.

Analysing and improving the routes your drivers take can save a huge amount of time. American courier UPS famously developed a system for their delivery drivers that would favour 3 right turns over a left to cut down on time waiting at traffic lights. You probably don’t need to go that far, but checking your drivers are taking the quickest routes by using vehicle tracking is a good start.

Watch what they’re doing.

With in-vehicle CCTV, you can have a proper look at what your staff are doing when they’re on the road.  And you will probably be surprised. Aside from being able to monitor what your drivers are doing on camera, Vehicle CCTV provides benefits to safety, and valuable evidence in case of insurance claims.

Time their breaks.

How do you time your driver’s breaks when they’re 100 miles away enjoying a leisurely McDonalds? A GPS tracker in the vehicle will record not only where they are, but also how long the vehicle is stopped for. You can even set up alerts that let you know when someone has stopped for longer than you’d like.   On the flip side your drivers may have to take certain rest periods when driving long-distance, you can check that they are complying with your health and safety rules.
